Here at My Designer Bag its been a while since the last post, as things were cooling off a little, but they're hotting up once again as the Spring approaches and the year gets back into full swing after the Winter blues have dissipated!
What is this post all about, with the tempting title of Designer Bags for Style looming across the top? Well, its more of a ramble about the impeccable styling and quality of genuine designer bags as opposed to the more rough finishing and presentation of the fakes which are increasingly being passed off as the real thing.
So in a way, its a timely reminder to be on your guard for fake designer bags, while embracing the latest designs to have appeared in the stores since Christmas, when everyone seems to have been more intent on clearing out last year's fashions in readiness for the explosion of new styles for 2009.
The ever popular Miche Bags with their interchangeable insides are becoming more and more sought after while the ever present big names such as Prada, Gucci, Fendi et al are continually redesigning and reshaping to keep the shelves stocked with ever more stylish and desirable bags. So its a time to keep one eye on the stores and the other eye on the online outlets and fashion news sites for the earliest word on that newest Louis Vuitton, or Jimmy Choo or the very latest bags to emerge from the Balenciaga or Vera radley stables.
Don't expect bargains from any of these top names, by the way, because you will certainly have to pay for what you get. And what you will get will be a timeless fashion statement that will turn heads and cause spontaneous whispers along with widened eyes and surprised faces! Because when you invest in a genuine designer bag, you are investing in your look, which is as important as it ever was, ever is and ever will be!
Ciao for now folks!

Designer Organic Fashionable Bags
Well its been a long wait from my last post Designer Bag on eBay, where I made the transition from the affiliate banners to the eBay live listings, but its time to come back to this with a look at designer organic fashionable bags.
This is a whole huge industry in itself and started from humble beginnings like so many of the newer, common-sense businesses that are actually getting their stuff together and seeing what people are more in tune with these days. And with the huge upsurge in the green, environmentally friendly movement with many more people waking up to their surroundings and what the old ways of doing things were actually doing to the place we live, we're finally realizing that we can't keep on that way.
So manufacturers have seen the green light and are now starting to create designer bags from recyclable or even recycled materials that are still of high quality and something that a few of the top models are flouting as a way of saying "if you want to be like me, get your organic fashionable bags and be part of this!"
Companies like LittleEarth are leading the way in this and there are some extremely must have items in their inventory - their ad banner is located at the end of these posts by the way if you want to head over to their site and just see for yourself what they have on offer at the moment. You don't have to buy anything, just do some window shopping and get some ideas!
Of course, I would be remiss if I didn't quickly mention the eBay list on the right once again as it really is a super resource for finding some great bargains in the designer bag world so spend a minute or two just browsing down the list and see what takes your fancy!
Watch out for Miche bag imitations that are around as with everything just use common sense to avoid buying a fake designer bags online. The price is usually the best indicator here, especially if it is a "buy it now" item for a price that is ridiculously low. Auction items usually start low but the bids soon grow when it is obvious that there is a genuine designer bag up for grabs at a potentially great price.
There are probably some designer organic fashionable bags creeping into that list so you might just get lucky!
See you soon,

A Miche Bag Designer Bag With a Shell?
With a break from designer bag information as such as per our last post Designer Bag or Designer Inspired Bag?, this installment is going to introduce a new designer bag maker with a nice big flashy banner and a bit about what they're about!
First, some background:
Around three years ago, Michelle Romero owned a handbag she really liked. Then she went and spilled something on it. She was upset that she'd have to transfer the contents of her purse, then replace it with a brand new bag. Well, a thought occurred to Michelle then - Wouldn't it be convenient, not to mention fun if a handbag could have a removable cover.
Michelle disassembled that bag and made the prototype of a brand new designer bag that now had a removable shell. Well, Michelle showed it to her friend Annette Cavaness, who immediately fell in love with the concept. The two of them developed a business plan. They contacted a patent lawyer as well as a sourcing agent who helped them to find a factory in China to produce the bags. That led to the creation of what we now know as the Miche Bag.
Miche Bags are the totally greatest sensation to hit women's fashion and accessories! They make a designer handbag that actually has an interchangeable shell. Now that allows women to technically own as many designer handbags as they want simply by changing shells, not designer bags!
What an absolutely great way to own a large collection of great designer bags without busting the bank! With the Miche Bag trademark to keep things above board and totally genuine, you have a really great addition to your designer bag collection in these amazing bags.

Designer Bag or Designer Inspired Bag?
Following the last post here at My Designer Bag where we showed you how to Beat Your Designer Bag Addiction, it'd be great to look at some of the differences between true designer bags and the more affordable alternatives, known as designer inspired bags.
Designer bags are coming out in some great styles this season. Most designer bags have warranties on their products which means they'll fix any manufacturing defects or weaknesses for you should they occur. Designer bags like Burberry bag, Gucci bag, Fedi bag etc, however, carry a steep price tag which places them out of reach for many people.
Designer inspired and fashion bags, on the other hand, are much more affordable. Designer inspired bags have the same style as their designer bag label counterparts, but have enough noticeable differences which can distinguish them from the true designer bag. That prevents violation of trademark or copyright laws. They also don't display the designer bag name or logos anywhere on the bag.
While fashion handbags come in lots of great styles, they're not necessarily styled after the designer labels.
When you buy a true designer bag, it's no secret that the higher price includes the displayed name and logos. You should always be certain that you get exactly what you pay for. It's also no secret that the big designer bag names in handbag fashions refrain from wholesaling their products to small independent retailers. They also usually limit the online sales of their designer bag products to their own website or sometimes to a large national retailer who is authorized to sell their designer bag products.
Beware cheap imitations being sold as designer bags! There are many handbags being sold off as designer bag labels that are not what they appear to be.
As an example, you might pay only $300 for a designer bag that you'll find on a genuine designer bag site for $900. Well, if you did your homework and got the real deal, say something advertised as "gently used" on eBay, well you got a great deal: But if it turns out to be merely a really good replica, then you paid way over the odds for it.
If you like the style of a particular handbag and you are not so bothered about the name on the bag, then a designer inspired handbag or fashion handbag can give you the look you want without breaking the bank that a true designer bag would do. It's a great idea if you really like a particular look or style.
As long as you are aware that designer inspired bags and fashion handbags can come in varying qualities, you'll be fine as long as when purchasing them, you check out the store's return policy. Most stores that sell well made handbags, be they online or a high street or shopping mall store, will be proud to stand behind their products and be more than happy to provide some type of return policy.
So whether you go for the true designer bag or the more affordable designer inspired bag, it comes down to personal choice as much as the size of your bank balance!

Beat Your Designer Bag Addiction!
Following on from our last post Designer Bags and Organic Fashion, which covered the ecological issues surrounding the production and sale of designer bags, here we'll take a tongue-in-cheek look at ten ways in which you can beat your designer bag addiction... if you want to, of course!
This is for you if you simply cannot open your closet because it is so full of your designer handbags - to simply turn the knob, a tsunami wave of designer bags and purses cascade out and create pandemonium in your bedroom into a mess! Well, maybe you need some help. If you are trying like mad, but unsuccessfully to curb your designer bag addiction, here is the definitive method to help you beat your designer bag addiction in 10 steps.
2. Make a budget for yourself. You are not just going to make a budget for your designer bags by the way, listing exactly how many Louis Vuittons you can buy versus Tote bags. You will make a budget for everything in your life including rent, utility bills and car insurance, etc. It's a drag, but a necessary one.
3. With your budget in hand, you are going to limit how many designer bags you will purchase. So, of you only have an extra $200 in your budget and the Louis Vuitton handbag costs about $800, you will have to swallow the fact that you can only afford to buy one every four months. That means NOT buying the blue leather designer bag and the black Gucci bag at the same time!
4. If you are having willpower problem over not buying a designer bag, watch out for that tempting rash purchase. Maybe 20 years ago you'd just put the money in the bank, which would have put a stop to you buying a designer bag on the spot. But with shopping online, ATMs and credit cards, you are going to need to literally freeze your plastic. This is cool... Get a plastic container, fill it with water, put your credit cards in it, and pop it in the freezer. Now if you want to purchase that latest Fendi designer bag, you're gonna have to wait for the money to thaw.
5. Avoid temptations. Throw away the tabloids or just don't buy them to avoid seeing ads for designer bags. It seems that every week a new celebrity is carrying around a different designer bag. While it's nice to see who has the same bag that you want, it's just too tempting.
6. If you're feeling a little depressed about not having the latest designer bag, re-organize your own collection. Even if you only have a small collection of designer bags you can spend the time that you'd spend shopping doing some work on them.
7. If you are weary of carrying around the same designer bag, why not take some of your older bags out of retirement. While they may have been popular a few years ago, good designer bags never go out of fashion - they ARE fashion!
8. To get a new designer bag into your wardrobe, why not trade with a friend or better still, borrow one. If you don't know anyone you could do that with, check this out:

Borrow the Biggest Brands in Designer Handbags at BagBorrowOrSteal.Com!
It won’t cost you a lot of money, and no one has to know it’s not yours.
9. Designer bags are expensive items to collect, so you may want to start a different collection. Why not try stamp collecting? Stamps are cheap so you could buy hundreds of them for the price of one designer bag. On the other hand, forget that one...
10. If it's really too tough to beat your designer bag addiction, to relieve the stress you may just want go ahead and buy a nice Burberry. You’ll be truly disappointed in yourself, hate yourself even for succumbing to that temptation... but hey, at least you'll have the satisfaction of carrying around the latest Burberry designer bag!
If that doesn't inspire you to give up your designer bag addiction, then don't! Go out and treat yourself to a new designer bag instead - a little retail therapy never hurt anyone!

Designer Bags and Organic Fashion
Following on from the last full post (bypassing the Christmas message, of course) which was all about Designer Bag Fakes, now we'll move on to a mention about something more unusual in the world of designer bags, merchandise from Organic and Eco Fashion sources.
Organic fashion
Organic fashion refers to clothes or designer bags etc which have been produced with a minimum of chemicals and thereby damage to the environment. That includes chemicals used in every step in the process. From the growing of cotton, to dying and finishing the fabric.
Eco fashion
Eco fashion means clothing which has been manufactured with environmentally-friendly processes. These include organic clothing. Eco fashion clothing and designer bags for example can use recycledmaterials such as eco-fleece which is produced from recycled plastic drinks bottles. Eco fashion, by the way is not necessarily made from organic fibres.
Why Would You Support Organic and Eco Fashion?
The fashion industry has an huge impact on the environment. A large percentage of the clothes we wear these days are made from synthetic materials. Nylon and polyester are produced from petrochemicals which pollute the environment and cause global warming. They are also non-biodegradable. That means they don't naturally break down easily which makes them difficult to dispose of. During the manufacture nylon, nitrous oxide is released and this is a greenhouse gas that is 310 times stronger than carbon dioxide.
Viscose, another artificial fibre, is made from wood pulp which is treated with toxic chemicals such as caustic soda and sulphuric acid. Nice!
Natural fibres do have their problems, too. Cotton growers use more pesticide per cotton plant than almost any other crop worldwide. This creates serious impacts, causing illness and even death amongst cotton farmers who are exposed to them every day. I'd like to say it serves them fucking right. These pesticides also affect local eco-systems and kill certain plants and animals causing an imbalance in nature. Chemicals used in the growing of cotton remain in the fabric and are released during the lifetime of the garments. They affect the people who wear the clothes too.
Hazardous chemicals are also used on wool. For example sheep dips have been linked with illness amongst sheep farmers.
If that wasn't enough, certain dyes are believed to cause cancer. In many countries, garments are dyed or bleached using toxic chemicals without proper precautions. These chemicals can then affect workers. They also flow into sewers and rivers, damaging the local ecosystems.
Virtually all polycotton (especially bedlinen), as well as "easy care", "crease resistant" and "permanent press" cotton are treated with formaldehyde, another toxic chemical.
Organic cotton is grown without using poisonous chemical pesticides and insecticides. Apart from damaging health and the environment the common sense part of this is that these are also very expensive for farmers. Nothing like money to make something attractive, so if these chemicals are cut out of the process, everybody gains.
Organic cotton garments are also mostly free from chlorine bleaches and synthetic dyes.
Hemp
Hemp is an eco-friendly crop. It needs few or no agri-chemicals to grow successfully and at the same time it binds, improves and enriches the soil with its deep roots.
Linen
Linen, which is made from flax (another traditional fibre crop) also needs fewer chemical fertilisers and less pesticide than cotton.
Organic wool
Organic wool is increasingly being made available. It is produced using sustainable farming practices and without those toxic sheep dips.
Natural dyes
Natural dyes are made from common plants, vegetables and roots. A wide variety of colour-fast pigments can be created in this way.
So think about what you buy when you think about fashion and designer bags. There are alternatives to the earth killing processes that we have grown unhealthily accustomed to. In fact there is a great environmentally aware online store that is worthwhile looking at to get some great alternative designer bag ideas and that's LittleEarth. Designer Bag Fakes
Following on from our last post here at My Designer Bag, entitled: A Designer Bag is For Christmas, we thought it would be a good idea to issue a timely warning about designer bag fakes.
Designer bag fakes can be seen on sale at pretty much every market, boot sale, garage sale, flea market and the like. The designer bag fakes sell for a fraction of the cost of the real thing, but it doesn't stop the designer bag fakes from flooding the designer bag market.
Designer bag fakes are easily spotted by wary shoppers who are looking to buy genuine designer bags at discounted prices and I posted an in-depth article on this very subject over at my Squidoo lens Designer Bag, which will tell you an awful lot about designer bag fakes and how to tell the difference between the genuine article and designer bag fakes.
So don't get caught out this Christmas with designer bag fakes. If you're looking for a genuine designer bag, be prepared to pay a fair price for one and don't be fooled into thinking you can get the real Macoy for a few dollars!

A Designer Bag is For Christmas

Designer Bag Mania
Designer bag mania is all around us! Following the last post How to Spot a Fake Designer Bag, we'll take a look at designer bag mania!
What's this?
Well, the stampede to own the latest designer bag fashion has never been so fierce as in recent times. Top brand names like Louis Vuitton Bag, Prada Bag, Burberry Bag, Gucci Bag, Fendi Bag, Balenciaga Bag, Jimmy Choo, Chanel, Tod's and many more are fast becoming the must-have accessories for those expensive evenings out or days at top social events.
With so many top names and different styles to choose from, it's fast becoming a nightmare for the fashion conscious of the social scene to keep up with everyone else.
Thankfully, there are some top fashion stores with online outlets for the stay-at-home shopper to browse through the vast array of available items making shopping for a new designer bag much easier than it used to be.
No more long waits in heavy traffic, battling to find a parking space then fighting your way through crowds of shoppers to get to the store in the first place. Not to mention the hours spent walking around the stores looking for that one special designer bag for that one special event, only to find that one you had your heart set on was sold out at every place you tried.
Online shopping does away with all that hard work.
And Affman has taken the long frustrating online search for that perfect store out of the game as well, by setting up the perfect sites to point you in the perfect direction for the designer bag of your dreams.
You can click Designer Bag to go see the place to find just what you're looking for.

How to Spot a Fake Designer Bag
Over at my Squidoo lens Designer Bag, I've published some pretty interesting information on various ways to spot a fake designer bag.
Follow the above link to zoom over there and take a look - especially if you're thinking about buying a new designer bag in the near future.
The main rule of thumb is: If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is!
Have a good day,
Terry Didcott

My Designer Bag - Another Store
I got accepted as an affiliate of the giant US store, FranklinCovey. So I have added that store to my Squidoo lens at Designer Bag.
I've also posted another interesting article there about how to tell a fake designer bag from a genuine one which should come in very useful should you be in the market for a new designer bag and not want to be caught out by a cheap fake.
Apologies for a short post, but time has run out for today's online work, so I'll get more done tomorrow!
